About the Company:

We are a well-established construction firm specializing in commercial/residential/infrastructure] projects. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Senior Accounts Payable Specialist with experience handling construction subcontracts to join our accounting team. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring accurate and efficient AP processes while maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and manage high-volume accounts payable, specifically related to construction subcontracts.

  • Review, verify, and reconcile subcontractor invoices, ensuring compliance with contract terms.

  • Work closely with project managers and procurement teams to track subcontractor payments and approvals.

  • Ensure all lien waivers, insurance certificates, and compliance documents are up to date before processing payments.

  • Coordinate progress payments and retainage according to contract terms.

  • Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies and payment issues with subcontractors.

  • Maintain accurate records of accounts payable transactions and assist with month-end closing.

  • Assist in preparing reports related to subcontractor costs and financial performance.

  • Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory requirements related to construction payables.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of accounts payable experience in the construction industry, with a focus on subcontractor payments.

  • Strong knowledge of AIA billing, lien waivers, retainage, and compliance requirements.

  • Proficiency in construction accounting software (e.g., Viewpoint, Sage 300, Procore, or similar).

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with project teams, vendors, and finance personnel.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple deadlines.
